Hormonal Imbalances

Hormonal Imbalance Treatment in Dubai

Are you aware that a wide range of signs, including weight gain and loss, can signal a hormonal imbalance and the good news is that many conditions that cause hormonal imbalance can be treated. When you have a hormonal imbalance, you have too much or too little of a certain hormone. Even tiny changes can have serious effects throughout your whole body. Some hormone levels fluctuate throughout your lifetime and may just be the result of natural aging. But other changes occur when your endocrine glands get the recipe wrong and this is where our Senior Endocrinologist, Dr. Aswin Pankajakshan can help you with his immense years of expertise.

Hormones are the chemical messengers of your body. Created in the endocrine glands, these powerful substances circulate through your bloodstream, signaling tissues and organs on what actions to take. They play a crucial role in regulating many key processes, including metabolism and reproduction.

What causes a hormonal imbalance?

Age can affect hormone production and how well hormones work. Other life stages, such as puberty, can also affect hormonal levels. Other causes of a hormonal imbalance may not affect everyone. Conditions that tend to disturb hormones include:

  • Addison’s disease, which affects the adrenal gland and its ability to make hormones
  • Anorexia and other eating disorders that cause hormonal changes
  • Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), which can cause abnormal levels of cortisol (stress hormone) and testosterone (male hormone)
  • Cushing’s syndrome, associated with high cortisol levels
  • Diabetes, which affects insulin (the hormone that regulates blood sugar)
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which causes people AFAB to produce unusually high levels of male hormones
  • Thyroid disorders, which affect your thyroid’s ability to make hormones
  • Cysts and tumors
  • Drugs such as birth control or cancer treatments
  • Environmental exposure to chemicals

Hormones play a central role in many conditions, like obesity, thyroid dysfunction, and adrenal disorders. A tailored approach helps restore balance effectively.
